Vice President of Eczacibasi Holding / ENTREWAR Mentor
Born in 1954 in Istanbul, Faruk Eczacibasi graduated from Istanbul German High School and completed his undergraduate and graduate studies in the Business School of Berlin Technical University. He began to work in the Eczacibasi Group in 1980. After accumulating some experience in the U.S. for a period, he assumed different roles in Eczacibasi Group. He is currently the vice president of Eczacibasi Holding, served as the director of “Eczacibasi Information Transmission” company of the group and managed the group’s “e-transformation”. Through the Informatics Foundation of Turkey (TIF) founded in 1995 with the goal of transforming Turkey into an information society where he served as the president, he worked on preparation of various research reports and development of the relevant policies. Among his various activities within this framework, he worked at the E-Transformation Executive Board created under the Turkey Action Plan. He assumed an active role in institution and maintaining of e-Turkey Awards that is the only award given by the private industry to the public sector together with TIBA. He worked in the implementation of Turkish National Program for the Adoption of the Acquis. He spearheaded the foundation of the first company that fulfilled legal and technical requirements to ensure security of e-trade and e-state applications in Turkey. He led the public opinion toward adoption of the EU criteria against Internet control. Eczacibasi is currently the President of TIS and working to create the technology map of Turkey. Faruk Eczacibasi has also been the President of Eczacibasi Sports Club since 1999.
